There is also a rumored new dlc package coded on steam but I wouldn’t put any weight into it yet until we get some news. Since then (i think) they’ve been busy with porting civ6 + dlcs to consoles. We haven’t heard anything from the developers recently but they put out a survey for additonal changes & content like 6 months ago. The GS civs are also some of my favorite in the game! These elements aren’t perfect but they break up the formula just enough. Rock band promotions add a rng element for gaining tourism for culture vict. The new future era will always have a randomized research tree late-game. There are also additional elements that add slightly more diverse gameplay for science and culture. Additionally there are ways to circumvent these mechanics-with wonders, dams, flood barriers & military engineers, etc. However, you are rewarded for settling near these “danger” areas with potential for increased production or district bonuses, etc. Tornadoes when there are a bunch of empty plains/hills or when you are between mountain rangesĮruptions if settling within 2 spaces of a volcano For example, you will learn to plan ahead for. There is a random element to weather that adds more risk/reward-but it’s NOT all rng. Even though it can sometimes be frustrating, I enjoy having to adapt my strategy, for instance, when a tornado blows through one my major cities or when enemy civs start pumping out too many military units and C02 emissions. The game needed other (random) elements to make it each game more diverse. I was also struggling with the game getting too monotonous and formulaic. No problem :) It’s tough to pinpoint, but the strategic resource changes made with R&F pair really seamlessly with the weather/climate mechanics in GS.
